StandUpShop: What triggered your interest in stand up? Tom Myers: I was intrigued by the way I could express myself and be able to make people laugh at the same time. StandUpShop: Who are some of your comedic influences and why? Tom Myers: I would say my style is a cross between Richard Belzer, Denis Leary and Bill Hicks. Belzer inspired my interest in the humorous aspect of politics and Leary's temperment intrigues me and is a heavy influence in my act because it's funny as hell. I own all of Bill Hicks' CDs and his DVD, so I've come to respect him simply because he has the guts to talk about stuff that no professional comedian will talk about. view entire interview |
